Let's not forget that we're a country of immigrants...Somewhere back in the Sandberg family tree someone made the trip from Sweden and settled in the Jamestown, New York area. Therefore, Swedish culture and traditions (not just Ikea meatballs!) have always had a special place in my family. Inspired by the traditionally handcarved Dalecarlian horses, these small handmade, kiln-cast glass horsies really command a presence!

Created using the lost wax kilncasting process and sporting an acid etched surface means no two are exactly the same. Small details of the kilncasting process and maker's marks contribute to a truly handmade feel. Made of brilliant Red-Orange crystal glass.
What is Lost Wax Kilncasting?
Lost wax kilncasting involves creating a refractory mold around a wax model and then removing the wax to create a cavity. The mold and the amount of glass needed to fill the cavity are then placed in a room-temperature kiln and heated to temperatures at which the glass will flow into and fill the cavity. The mold and glass are then brought back down to room temperature in a controlled manner.
