The newest member of the Flatop Family! This new addition to the Squares Family was created by special request and is used to make shallow dropout trays** and the measures 12.25" x 12.25" (OD) x 9 3/16" x 9 3/16" (ID) and is 3/8" thick. This will be the sturdiest mold you have ever owned! Short of dropping them on the ground we don’t see Flatop Rings disappointing you. Made of a flat and smooth ceramic material.
Listed dimensions are exact…No waiting till you get the mold to make glass to fit it! We have not seen these molds crack, warp or crumble in any way during regular in our studio.
**OG's shallow trays are only dropped ~1/2". We never intended to put this mold on posts any taller than 1/2" and doing so can produce interesting results as square and rectangular dropouts behave differently than round forms due to the sharp corners.
Slumping molds/dropout rings should be coated with some sort of separator to prevent the glass from sticking to the mold. Standard shelf primer works fine but we’ve learned it can be a bit too slippery from time to time. For taller drops, OnGrade Studio recommends coating dropout rings with DOP: dropout paste which is available in this store.
